Coordinator of the DIrect Intervention Team in Drug Abuse
After completing his university degree last field placement in the Direct Intervention Team of Caritas in Vila Real (Portugal) and from 2002 until 2005, Miguel started coordinating and supervising the same team. This team is a unit of direct intervention with drug users, their families, and the community in general. Its main goals are to promote the integration of drug users in recovery, treatment, and social reinsertion processes, through the articulated development of support, referrals, and prevention actions.
MAIN TASKS / ACHIEVEMENTS
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with people who are struggling with drug abuse.
- Provide education and support to people who are struggling with drug abuse and their families.
- Link people who are struggling with drug abuse to treatment and other resources.
- Develop primary prevention campaigns.
